And, We’re Live!

Monday night’s “Valley Homegrown” show got our week off to a rockin’ start!  The band Superkart entertained audiences in the studio and at home during their live broadcast.  Several volunteers mentioned that it was a really good show.  If you missed it, you can watch it here.

Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday our focus was on the 55th Annual Greenfield Kiwanis Club Auction.  Members of the club came in on Tuesday for training and to set up the phones they’d be using during their live simulcast on Cable Channel 15, 98.3FM WHAI, Bear Country 95.3, and

It was fun to be in the office with club members.  Their Hawaiian print shirts, sense of humor, hard work, and dedication to their cause helped the group raise a lot of money.  If you happened to come into our office on either evening, you would have seen all four of our editing PC’s in use; complete with phones, headsets, and the auction database.  Our conference table was full of food, auction catalogs, and busy volunteers.  The studio was packed with a large phone bank and several stations to show off and talk about the items up for bid.  Whatever items weren’t on display were arranged around the office in the order they would go on TV.  Our staff had to exercise an enormous amount of willpower in order not to take the bright green Budweiser bicycle for a spin around the block!

Because of the auction, and because it took place at the Veterans Resource Center/Planning & Development Office at 114 Main Street, Wednesday night’s Ways & Means Committee meeting wasn’t broadcast live but one of our staff members did record it.  The councilors in attendance had a very good discussion with Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Sandy Shields & Town Finance Director Lane Kelly about the proposed 2013 DPW and Central Maintenance budgets.  In addition, Director Shields talked about her plans to retire in March of 2013.  The meeting will air on Saturday at 1pm as well as 12AM on Monday and Wednesday.  It will also be available to watch online next week.
