United Arc Auction Saturday

Help The United Arc celebrate its 14th Annual Spring Auction on March 14th from 4PM to 7PM at Greenfield Community College in the Cohn Family Dining Commons! All proceeds benefit critical support services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in Western Massachusetts. Suggested admission is just one non-perishable food or toiletry item for The United Arc's food pantry.

NAMI-WM Support Group Changes Meeting Time

The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Western Massachusetts (NAMI-WM) has changed the time of its monthly support group for family and friends of loved ones with mental illness.  The group will now meet on the last Wednesday of every month from 6PM to 8PM, at Clinical Support Options (CSO) here in Greenfield.

The United Arc invites the community to attend its 2nd Annual Legislative Breakfast this Friday, February 13th, from 8:30AM to 11AM, at 294 Avenue A in Turners Falls.  The event will include a light continental breakfast and time to speak with legislators.

Help With Health Insurance

The Massachusetts Health Connector, State Rep. Paul Mark (D-Peru), and the Community Health Center of Franklin County today detailed opportunities for residents to access help applying for health insurance coverage during Open Enrollment. The Open Enrollment period started November 15th and everyone who is in Health Connector coverage, or was placed in temporary plans over the last year, needs to submit a new application if they want insurance coverage through the Commonwealth in 2015.

Another Way to Help Families in Need

On Thursday, November 13th, Greenfield Town Councilors will work together gathering non perishable food for local community meals and organizations.  Everyone should bring their food donations to the Greenfield Town Common between 3PM and 6PM, when councilors will be on hand to accept them.  Cash donations are also welcome.

United Arc Sponsors Positive Behavioral Supports Training

On Monday, November 17th, from 5PM to 8PM, the United Arc's Family Center in Turners Falls will offer Positive Behavioral Supports training for friends, family members, and support persons of people with autism.  In addition to a discussion about the strengths and challenges often associated with individuals on the autism spectrum, the workshop will include information about how to assess the intent behind "challenging behaviors", strategies that utilize individual strengths and learning styles to teach desired behaviors, and how a person's quality of life impacts their wellbeing and influences their behavior.

Pioneer Valley Workers Center Launch Party

On Thursday, October 23rd, the Pioneer Valley Workers Center (PVWC) will celebrate its official opening, from 5:30PM to 8:30PM, with an exhibition of artwork from restaurant workers in Northampton.  The PVWC was founded in 2013 by unions, community organizations, and faith groups in an effort to build power for food systems workers in Western Massachusetts.
