Special Needs Trusts Classes Offered by United Arc

Do you worry about a family member's future financial wellbeing?  The United Arc's Family Center is sponsoring two trainings this fall for guardians of people with developmental disabilities.  These workshops will help families learn about the special-needs trust and why it’s one of the most effective ways to protect individuals living with a disability when their parents or guardians can no longer care and advocate for them.

Help for Friends & Family of People with Mental Illness

On the last Wednesday of every month, from 6:30PM to 8:30PM, the Family and Friends Of Loved Ones Living with Mental Illness Support Group meets at Clinical Support Options (CSO) here in Greenfield.

United Arc Offers Special Education Workshops

The United Arc's Family Center is sponsoring two trainings this month for for families of students with developmental disabilities.  "An IEP for My Child" will take place on Thursday, September 18th, and "Basic Rights in Special Education" is scheduled for Monday, September 29th.

Pre-Register Now for NAMI "Family to Family"

NAMI-WM, the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), will offer its free, 12 week, "Family to Family" Education Course, for families, partners, or friends of individuals living with mental illness, beginning Saturday, September 6th, from 9AM to 11:30AM in Northampton.  While they hope to bring this program to Greenfield in the future, for now this is closest location.

Orange Senior Citizens Club Fair May 17th

Help support senior citizens in Orange on Saturday, May 17th, by attending their club fair at the Orange Armory from 9AM to 1PM.  The event includes various tables featuring food/candy, jewelry, tag sale items, and raffles.  Coffee, muffins, and sandwiches will also be available to purchase.

Auction Supports People with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities

On April 12th, help The United Arc celebrate its 13th Annual Spring Auction from  4-7pm at Greenfield Community College, in the Cohn Family Dining Hall.  All proceeds benefit critical support services for people in Western Massachusetts with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families.  Suggested admission is just one non-perishable item for The United Arc's food pantry.

March Workshops at The United Arc

The United Arc's Family Center is sponsoring two workshops this month for for families of persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.  "Building Relationships & Building Community" will take place on Thursday, March 20th, at 10am, and "A Decision-Making Workshop for Families with a Family Member who has Special Needs" is scheduled for Friday, March 28th, at 6pm.  Both workshops will be held at The United Arc in Turners Falls.

Franklin County CDC Gets $110K in Tax Credit Allocations

Expanding the Patrick Administration's commitment to encourage new economic opportunities for low- and middle-income households throughout Massachusetts, Department of Housing and Community Development Undersecretary Aaron Gornstein today announced $3 million in Community Investment Tax Credits (CITC) to 38 community organizations across the Commonwealth, including $110,000 for the Franklin County Community Development Corporation (CDC).

Free Tax Preparation Site in Greenfield Closed

AARP Foundation/Tax-Aide is a FREE tax preparation service offered to low- and medium-income individuals and couples.  The foundation had been providing services at the Greenfield Senior Center but, due to factors outside its control, is no longer able to do so.  Fortunately, there are several other nearby locations.
