Zydeco Connection to Play Benefit Concert

Adapted from a Stone Soup Cafe press release:

The next Third Friday Concert, co-hosted by the Stone Soup Cafe and All Souls Church, will be held on September 15th, from 7PM to 9PM, and feature the fun dance music of Zydeco Connection in the church's beautiful sanctuary.  It's a wonderful way to utilize this space, bringing people together through music and community.  In addition, soft drinks will be available on a pay-what-you-can basis so that attendees can stay hydrated as they dance in the aisles and boogie in the pews!

Greenfield Public Library Offers More Than Books

Adapted from a Greenfield Public Library (GPL) press release:

Sure, you can check out books, dvds, and CDs but did you know that you can attend a free concert at the library too?  How about an entertaining lecture on Sherlock Holmes in all his incarnations?  Our local library hosts many fun and interesting programs throughout the year and these are just two that will be happening next month.

Wanted: Local Bluegrass Talent

From a MASS MoCA press release:

Bluegrass is rich in tradition, including a storied history of flat-picking contests, fiddlers' conventions, and other participatory events that bring together musicians in spirited competition.  The FreshGrass Award, new to this year's FreshGrass Festival at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts, seeks to add new octane to the competition circuit, with $10,000 in cash prizes, a Compass Records recording session in Nashville, mentoring with veteran musicians, and a performance spot at next year's FreshGrass festival.

Looking Back on the Week, Looking forward to Halloween

In addition to getting ready to cover Greenfield’s Annual Rag Shag Parade, and put on our Masquerade Party fundraiser, we spent the week assisting producers, enjoying a great performance on “Valley Homegrown”, and lending our support to the first local U. S. Senate Candidates debate of the season.
