Back in March, members of the People's Music Network found a special way to celebrate Women's History Month.

"Understanding the Gaza Crisis" Event Wednesday

A presentation and Q & A with Phyllis Bennis, author, activist, and fellow of the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), followed by an Arabic musical performance by Simon Shaheen, an internationally acclaimed virtuoso on the oud and violin will take place on Wednesday, August 13th, at 7pm, at the Odyssey Bookshop (9 College Street) in South Hadley.  Ticket sales and a portion of book sales will be donated to the Middle East Children’s Alliance, a nonprofit humanitarian aid organization.  Additional donations will also be welcome.

Bluegrass Bands: Get Judged by Alison Brown

Storied bluegrass and roots performers Chris Pandolfi of The Infamous Stringdusters, Leigh and Eric Gibson of The Gibson Brothers, and longtime FreshGrass co-conspirator Alison Brown will select the best new acts in banjo, duo, and band competitions as the FreshGrass Award jury during the eponymous festival, September 19-21, 2014, at MASS MoCA.

Pat & Tex to Perform Friday & Saturday
