Wanted: Local Bluegrass Talent

From a MASS MoCA press release:

Bluegrass is rich in tradition, including a storied history of flat-picking contests, fiddlers' conventions, and other participatory events that bring together musicians in spirited competition.  The FreshGrass Award, new to this year's FreshGrass Festival at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts, seeks to add new octane to the competition circuit, with $10,000 in cash prizes, a Compass Records recording session in Nashville, mentoring with veteran musicians, and a performance spot at next year's FreshGrass festival.

Live, Local, Music

If you haven’t tuned in to “Valley Homegrown” lately, you don’t know what you’re missing!  The show has been on, in various incarnations, since 1997 and many musicians featured on the program are well known today; The Nields and Ray Mason spring immediately to mind, as does Naia Kete.  In fact, of the nineteen winners in this year’s Valley Advocate Grand Band Slam, seven have done live performances in our studio.

Laura Siersema Trio to Play 1794 Meetinghouse

Adapted from a Laura Siersema press release:

The Laura Siersema Trio (Laura Siersema, vocals, keyboard/piano; Billy Klock, drums; Wim Auer, fretless bass) will be playing the 1794 Meetinghouse, North Quabbin's Center for the Performing Arts, on Sunday, July 8th, at 4PM.  It's a beautiful spot and one of the best places to hear live music you'll ever experience.
