January 28th marks National Data Privacy Day, annually observed to encourage everyone to protect their personal information.  The Better Business Bureau of Central New England encourages consumers to review personal and financial information they share on the internet, and store on mobile devices, and take steps to protect their privacy.  How much information are you sharing on social media? Do you know what information mobile device apps can access?  Is the information you make available enough to allow someone to gain access to your accounts or steal your identity?

Deadline Approaches for BBB Scholarship

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Central New England and BBB's Consumer Education Foundation (CEF) are reminding local students to apply for the Barbara J. Sinnott Student of Integrity Scholarship before the January 31, 2016 deadline.  The scholarship awards $1,000 each to 4 graduating high school students who demonstrate a commitment to the ideals of the Better Business Bureau. Scholarships will be awarded to those students who reside in the communities served by BBB of Central New England which includes central and western Massachusetts and northeastern Connecticut.

MASS MoCA Seeks Artists

If you're an artist who wants more time and space to work on your craft, this might just be the opportunity for you.  The Studios at MASS MoCA is a new residency program that nourishes artists with housing and studio space adjacent to, and on, the museum’s extensive grounds.  Residency sessions from one to ten weeks are available from April through September, 2016.  The program is open to all practicing artists seeking time and space to create new work.

YouthFilm 2016 Call for Entries

The Northampton Arts Council is now accepting entries for YouthFilm 2016, part of the annual youth-centric film festival called KidsBestFest which will be presented from February 15th through 19th.  Filmmakers aged 18 and under in the Pioneer Valley area are invited to submit short films (10 minutes or less) for consideration.  All subjects and genres are welcome.  A selection committee will screen the submissions and filmmakers will be notified of results in early February.   Selected films will then be screened at the Academy of Music Theatre in Northampton on February 19, 2016.

Last Chance to Nominate a Business for Torch Award
