Child Abuse Awareness Month 2019 Flag Raising

April 5, 2019

This morning, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office & Western Massachusetts Children's Advocacy Centers held a flag raising ceremony in order to bring attention to this important issue.

Free Community Shred Event

Adapted from a Northwestern District Attorney’s (NWDA) Office press release:

Put a dent in identity theft by bringing your old documents, paperwork, bills, and more to the Guiding Star Grange Hall on Saturday, September 24th, from 10AM to 2PM.  This is a terrific opportunity to protect your personal information because there's no limit on the amount of material you can have shredded and computer hard drives and unwanted cell phones will also be welcome.

Turn in Your Unwanted Guns

Adapted from a Northwestern District Attorney’s (NWDA) Office press release:

The 2nd ever Valley Gun Buy Back will take place on Saturday, June 11th, from 10AM to 2PM, at the Greenfield and Northampton police stations.  This event's aim is to get unwanted but working guns out of people’s homes so that these firearms don’t fall into the wrong hands.  All guns in working condition will be accepted, no questions asked, and participants will receive a $50 gift card, as long as supplies last, for each gun returned.

Child Advocacy Center Grand Opening Friday

Adapted from a Northwestern District Attorney’s (NWDA) Office press release:

The public is invited to the Grand Opening of the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) of Franklin County & the North Quabbin Region on Friday, April 29th, from 3PM to 6PM.  The CAC serves children who are suspected of having been abused and it is a comfortable setting where they can be forensically interviewed and medically examined in a non-threatening manner.  Area contractors and artists volunteered hundreds of hours to transform an old house into this beautiful center serving Franklin County’s youngest citizens.

Promise & Politicians

First, as promised we moved our blog link to the “About Us” menu at the top of every page on our site.  We also renamed the “Local Shows” menu item “Locally Produced Shows” and put it under “About Us”.  The updated menu looks like this:

We hope these changes will make it easier for users to find what they are looking for.
