Columbia Gas Donates $5K to NoFIRES Program

Adapted from a Northwestern District Attorney’s Office press release:

National and Massachusetts statistics show that arson is the number one crime committed by juveniles, who set approximately 250,000 fires per year.  In 2012, the Northwestern District Attorney’s (NWDA) Office worked with fire and law enforcement officials, mental healthcare providers, and social service agencies to develop the Northwestern Juvenile Fire Intervention Response, Education, and Safety Partnership (NoFIRES), a non-profit organization that offers education and intervention to youth fire setters aged 5-17 years old.

FRIDAY!---Help Hurricane Sandy Victims

Adapted from a Blessed Sacrement Church press release:

"Love your neighbor as yourself"  Our neighbors in the CT, NY, and NJ area need our help.  With the direction of people that used to live on Long Island, we are going to fill a donated Fed-Ex truck with food, water, clothes, toiletries, diapers, and anything that you might need if you put yourself in their situation.  The Fed-Ex truck will be at Blessed Sacrament Church (221 Federal Street, Greenfield) from 4:00-5:00 PM on Friday 11/9.

Backwards Week in Review

Because it's a short week, and we're involved in things happening this weekend, we want to take a few moments to talk about the end of the week first.

Tomorrow is Veterans Day and Greenfield will be recognizing our servicemen and women with a parade through downtown and ceremonies at Veterans Mall.  Even though we're closed, one of our staff members will be on location tomorrow morning to film the parade and recognitions so that you can watch them on Cable Channel 15 next week or online as part of our Video on Demand Player.
