Pioneer Valley Ballet Offers Free Classes for Young Children

Pioneer Valley Ballet (PVB) is hosting its Fall Open House on August 24, 2013.  This free event will take place from 11am-1pm at their ballet studio in Easthampton, at the Eastworks Building, 116 Pleasant St., Suite 155.  Attendees will have opportunities to meet staff, tour the studio, register for school-year training programs, register to audition for The Nutcracker, and observe PVB’s advanced dancers in rehearsal.

Biking for Buddies 2013

Please join Big Brothers Big Sisters of Franklin County on Sunday, July 28, 2013, for a fun filled day of biking in the hills of Franklin County!  From 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, the 2nd annual Biking for Buddies event will feature 10, 25, and 50 mile cycling routes, beginning and ending on the campus of  Northfield Mount Hermon School in Gill.  Additional festivities include prizes, raffles, and lunch provided by Hillside Pizza.

Greenfield Awarded $20,000 Let's Play Grant

From a Greenfield Recreation Department press release:

We are happy to announce that Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) and national non-profit KaBOOM! awarded Greenfield a $20,000 Let’s Play City Construction Grant. Greenfield received the grant because it was selected as a 2012 Playful City USA community by KaBOOM! on May 1 and will use the grant to build a new playground with community involvement.

Greenfield Earns "Playful City USA" Designation

Today’s children spend less time playing outside than any previous generation, but 213 cities and towns, including Greenfield, earned recognition from national non-profit KaBOOM! as 2012 Playful City USA communities for their efforts to increase play opportunities for children.
