Parade of Lights is on for Friday!

With 13 official entries, the newest contest to become part of Greenfield Winter Carnival is off to a good start!  The Greenfield Recreation Department will lead the Parade of Lights through downtown this Friday, February 6th, starting at 6PM.  Spectators are encouraged to line the parade route and check out all the illuminated vehicles.

Greenfield Gets Frozen Over for Winter Carnival

Winter Carnival returns for its 93rd year Friday, February 6th, through Sunday, February 8th.  Since its very beginnings in 1922, this event has brought the community together in celebration during a time of year that can be long, cold, and dreary.  2015 is no exception, with an exciting, jam packed, Frozen themed weekend of activities.

Yum! Riverside Blues & BBQ Lineup

The Riverside Blues & BBQ Festival returns for its 4th year on Saturday & Sunday, October 11th & 12th. “We love to showcase one of the gems of Greenfield---Beacon Park.  It is a wonderful place to hold a festival, with the surrounding mountains and Poet Seat Tower standing above,” says Christy Moore, Recreation Director for the City of Greenfield and event organizer. “It is especially beautiful at this time of year with all of the changing foliage.”

Due to the December 14th snowstorm, the 75-member Greenfield Harmony Community Chorus will now hold its annual holiday concert on SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22ND, at 7PM.  It will still take place at Wesley Methodist Church (98 Maple Street) in Hadley, a beautiful new church with vaulted ceilings known for its extraordinary acoustics. Led by Mary Cay Brass, Greenfield Harmony is a multi-generational chorus that performs an eclectic mix of community-based music from many cultural and musical traditions.

Reminder: Youth Orchestra Auditions Next Month

The Pioneer Valley Symphony Youth Orchestra is holding auditions for student musicians on Saturday, September 8th, and Wednesday, September, 11th.  These are open auditions for winds, brass, percussion, and strings and students from elementary through high school are welcome to audition.

PVSO Immortal Masterpieces Concert Saturday

On Saturday, March 16th, at 7:30 pm, at Greenfield High School (1 Lennox Avenue), the Pioneer Valley Symphony & Chorus will present their "Immortal Masterpieces" concert featuring Dvorak's Cello Concerto with soloist Yehuda Hanani, Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, and Siegfried’s Death and Funeral March from Wagner’s Götterdämmerung.

On Saturday, December 15th, at 7:30 pm, at All Souls Unitarian Church, Greenfield Harmony will present their annual Holiday Concert.  Led by Mary Cay Brass, the choir will perform songs of joy, health, love, and peace from S. Africa, Cuba, Israel, Macedonia, and the British Isles, as well as American folk and gospel music.
