Auction Supports People with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities

On April 12th, help The United Arc celebrate its 13th Annual Spring Auction from  4-7pm at Greenfield Community College, in the Cohn Family Dining Hall.  All proceeds benefit critical support services for people in Western Massachusetts with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families.  Suggested admission is just one non-perishable item for The United Arc's food pantry.

New "Parents Supporting Parents" Group Starting

The Family United Network (FUN), part of The Salasin Center, is proud to announce the formation of a new, ongoing, support group for parents, beginning February 12, 2014.  Participants will meet on Wednesdays from 1pm to 2:30pm.  This group will be facilitated by Lynn Norwood & Melissa O’Malley, who have been providing The Nurturing Families 16 week program through The Salasin Project & The Recover Project.  Parents Supporting Parents is free to attend and offered to all parents & grandparents in the community.

Winter Carnival 2014 is Here!

Woo hoo!  It's a beautiful day, lots of people are out and about, and the ice carving competition is underway.

Furniture Masterworks Lectures at Historic Deerfield

Historic Deerfield will present its annual free winter lecture series, "Furniture Masterworks: Four Centuries of Massachusetts Furniture", with lectures on Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. in January, February, and March at Garonzik Auditorium in the Koch Science Center on the campus of Deerfield Academy.

Attention Young Filmmakers

The Northampton Arts Council will once again present YouthFilm, a day-long festival of film and video created by local youth and screened at the famous Academy of Music Theatre in downtown Northampton.  The festival accepts film and video entries from throughout the region by young people from 5–18 years old.

Due to the December 14th snowstorm, the 75-member Greenfield Harmony Community Chorus will now hold its annual holiday concert on SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22ND, at 7PM.  It will still take place at Wesley Methodist Church (98 Maple Street) in Hadley, a beautiful new church with vaulted ceilings known for its extraordinary acoustics. Led by Mary Cay Brass, Greenfield Harmony is a multi-generational chorus that performs an eclectic mix of community-based music from many cultural and musical traditions.

Celebrate Heritage Holiday at Historic Deerfield

Historic Deerfield's month-long series of traditional festive activities is going strong, with even more jolly fun than last year, including horse-drawn wagon rides and giftmaking.  Also, courtesy of generous support from King Arthur Flour for Historic Deerfield's Open Hearth Cooking Program, every day in December will be "Baking Day" at Historic Deerfield.  Join hearth cooks, guides, and educators in this celebration while holiday décor and seasonal aromas set the mood for making spirits bright!  Heritage Holiday daily activities run through December 29th, except for December 24th & 25th when the village is closed, and are included with general admission to the museum.
