No Longer COOPed Up!

Adapted from a COOP Concerts press releases:

Now that warm weather has really arrived, the 12th season of Coop Concerts at Greenfield's Energy Park (50 Miles Street) can begin.  This free series has been a favorite Thursday evening gathering of Franklin County's music lovers since the park opened in 2004 and offers a comfortable setting that draws in people of all ages.  Musical styles include folk, country, string bands, singer/songwriter, bluegrass, Americana, Celtic, comedy, rock, pop, and Zydeco.

Roses for Mom, Help for Our Community

Adapted from a United Way of Franklin County press release:

This Mother's Day, UPS is teaming up with the United Way for their annual Mother's Day Rose Sale!  As usual, your purchase of a dozen (or two!) roses for mom, a friend, yourself, or anyone who needs a smile will help support all of the great programs that the United Way of Franklin County has to offer.  In addition, thanks to UPS, each dozen roses you purchase will get you an entry in a drawing to win $100!

We Made Beautiful Music Together

Thank you to everyone who helped the Greenfield High School Music Parents Association (GHSMPA) raise $4,110 last night, during their annual telethon!  GHS band and chorus students, under the direction of conductor Maria Scotera, really appreciate what these funds are used for: uniform cleaning, transportation to performances, instrument repair, and much more.  Before the festivities got underway this year, we took a few "behind-the-scenes" pictures to share with you:

Show the Love for Kids

Adapted from a United Way of Franklin County press release:

Every child deserves to be carefree but, this year, more than 5,000 kids in our area will experience abuse and neglect and they need your help. In honor of Valentine's Day, the United Way of Franklin County is teaming up with United Way of Hampshire County & United Way of Pioneer Valley and asking you to #Showtheloveforkids during the whole month of February.  By texting the word HEART to 20222, you will donate $10 to local United Way programs that support kids in our region (message & data rates may apply).

On Tuesday, February 9th, from 5:30PM to 7PM, in Stoneleigh-Burnham School's Capen Room, the United Way of Franklin County will be collecting grocery bags of food; each filled with enough non-perishable items to make dinner for a family of 6.  All the bags will be distributed to families in need in Franklin County during school vacation week, February 15th through 19th.  Last year over 300 bags, weighing in at nearly 5,000 pounds, were collected!

Reminder: Historical Society Calendars Still Available

Adapted from a Buckland Historical Society press release:

Looking for a unique gift?  The Buckland Historical Society is still offering their beautiful, full color, 2016 "Heart of New England" Calendar of Robert Strong Woodward’s paintings.  Woodward (1885-1957) was a New England artist from Buckland who sold his work to celebrities such as Jack Benny, George Burns, and Robert Frost.

It's Giving Tuesday!

Many local nonprofits are participating in this tremendous fundraising event.  The United Way of Franklin County, Piti Theatre Company, & Just Roots sent us a few reasons why they should be on your donation list as charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
