Complementary Care Clinic at GFM 1/20/14

In honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, two local healing professionals are offering a seated bodywork clinic, open to everyone, on Monday, January 20, 2014, from 11:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. Sign up that day and receive a free 15-minute Acupressure Massage, CranioSacral Therapy, or Energy Healing session.

A Whole Lot of FUN at the Salasin Center

A Family Dance party will take place this Thursday, December 12th, from 3:30-6pm, at the RPX (Recover Project Annex---1 Osgood Street in Greenfield).  This is a free event, open to all members of the community, and features a fun dance and dinner for the whole family.

November Events for Women & Families

The Salasin Center (Greenfield Women's Resource Center) is a place for women to build community, support each other, and heal and empower themselves.  Open/drop-in hours are Mondays from 1-4pm, Wednesdays from 3-5pm, and Fridays from 12-1:30pm.  A sample of their offerings include:  Journey Dance on Tuesdays from 5:30-7pm at The RPX, a Women's Art Group Wednesdays from 1-3pm, Women's Peer to Peer writing group Fridays from 10am-12pm, and FUN Center family time every Thursday from 3:30-6:30pm.

Meditation for World Peace Being Held This Afternoon

In the midst of another round of violence and death in the Middle East, Lance Smith invites you to join others in sharing a Healing Meditation for World Peace.  Mr. Smith will be facilitating this event from 4PM to 5:30PM, on September 11th, at the Community Yoga and Wellness Center (16 Federal Street-Upstairs in Greenfield).

Salasin Center to Begin Offering T'ai Chi

Beginning September 16th, the Salasin Center will be offering Gentle T'ai Chi for Women every Monday from Noon to 12:45PM.  Stop in and learn how to relax, breathe in the flow, and invigorate your energy field.

Be Safe on the Water This Weekend

Officials from the Department of Conservation and Recreation are urging the public to act safely this summer as the warm weather and open water brings bathers, boaters, and waders onto DCR's lakes, ponds, and ocean beaches. While air temperatures may feel like summer, water temperatures can still be very cold. DCR encourages parents and visitors to be vigilant, especially with children, when visiting designated swimming areas. Parents should be near their children when they are in the water. To further help prevent water-related tragedies, DCR is releasing the following facts and safety tips for anyone venturing near the water:

The Department of Conservation and Recreation is excited to launch its seventh annual Great Park Pursuit, a summer-long series of free family adventures in Massachusetts state parks. Great Park Pursuit (GPP) Teams will design six personalized Park Pursuit adventures from hundreds of great parks and programs. Teams will take their own "GPP Squirrel" mascot along, snap a team photo with the mascot, and post their adventures online.  The 2013 Great Park Pursuit series runs through August 24th so join the Great Park Pursuit, get outdoors, and create great memories together!

Free Exercise Class at the YMCA

From Greenfield YMCA Instructor Sandy Kosterman:

The Greenfield YMCA is offering a free evening exercise class, that is open to the public, for people who have osteoporosis, osteopenia, or who just want to strengthen their bones. This is a fun and beneficial exercise program that builds bones, muscles, strength, flexibility and improves balance with provided light weights and balls. We have had a wonderful response to the morning class and are now offering an evening class as well! All are welcome, and classes are free for all.
