Legal Assistance for People Living with HIV/AIDS

The Center for Human Development (CHD) wants to get the word out about its HIV/AIDS Law Consortium, the mission of which is to preserve the legal and human rights of individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS.  The consortium is a legal services program whose goals are to: 1) ensure access to effective legal assistance for low income individuals with HIV/AIDS who reside in western Massachusetts and 2) to demystify laws and public policy surrounding HIV/AIDS through educational forums for consumers and service providers.

Free Tax Preparation Site in Greenfield Closed

AARP Foundation/Tax-Aide is a FREE tax preparation service offered to low- and medium-income individuals and couples.  The foundation had been providing services at the Greenfield Senior Center but, due to factors outside its control, is no longer able to do so.  Fortunately, there are several other nearby locations.

Hillside Neighborhood Watch Starts Next Week

On Wednesday, November 13, 2013, the first meeting of the Hillside Neighborhood Watch group will take place from 5pm to 6:30pm, in the Greenfield Gardens meeting room at 58 Pray Street.  Attendees will discuss simple actions that can be taken in cooperation with local law enforcement and establish a network of neighbors looking out for each other.

Project Bread is awarding more than $160,000 to 425 summer meal locations in 37 communities, including Greenfield, to boost, strengthen, and expand the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), a federally supported child nutrition program, which was specifically designed to bridge the summer gap in school meals.
