DCR Opens Beaches & Waterfronts Early

Adapted from a Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation press release:

Due to the warm weather conditions this week, Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) Commissioner Jack Murray is pleased to announce that the following DCR beaches and waterfronts will be staffed and guarded 7 days-a-week beginning Wednesday, June 18, 2014.  Lifeguards will be on duty from 11AM until 6PM.

What's Happening at The Salasin Center?

The Salasin Center, which encompasses the Greenfield Women's Resource Center (GWRC) and the Family United Network (FUN), has a lot going on this month!  In addition to the ongoing Parents Supporting Parents group and Journey Dance class, a Summer Solstice Celebration/Women's Open Mic Night will be held on June 20th and a family dance party will happen on the 26th.

Random Acts of Kindness Family Service Night

In the spirit of spreading kindness to others, Hilltown Families presents a free family workshop, "Flowers for Friends", at The Art Garden in Shelburne Falls, on Friday, April 11th, 2014, from 4-7pm.  Families are invited to join neighbors & friends in this free community art event; painting terracotta flower pots to plant with pansies and then pass along to another in their community.

Young Writers Wanted: Show Off Your Talent

Pioneer Valley Science & Sustainability Expo Schedule

Would you like to see young people’s visions of the future?  The Science and Sustainability Expo is a unique, intergenerational, non-commercial, educational event for youth and adults.   Taking place on Saturday, March 1st, from 9am-3:30pm, at the Greenfield Community College (GCC) dining common, it is designed to foster mutual inspiration and enthusiasm around sustainable living and sustainability education.

New "Parents Supporting Parents" Group Starting

The Family United Network (FUN), part of The Salasin Center, is proud to announce the formation of a new, ongoing, support group for parents, beginning February 12, 2014.  Participants will meet on Wednesdays from 1pm to 2:30pm.  This group will be facilitated by Lynn Norwood & Melissa O’Malley, who have been providing The Nurturing Families 16 week program through The Salasin Project & The Recover Project.  Parents Supporting Parents is free to attend and offered to all parents & grandparents in the community.
