Stay Safe on the Roads in Winter Weather

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has issued a Winter Weather Advisory and advises the public to use caution on the drive home from work today, and for travel to destinations through the day tomorrow, as forecasters are calling for weather that includes a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow depending upon the region of the state.

Make Your Voice Heard About Tolls

Next month, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will hold several public hearings regarding proposed gantry prices for its new All Electronic Tolling (AET) system that will go into use on the MassPike (Interstate 90), and in the Metropolitan Highway System tunnels, in October. Two of the hearings will take place in our area, on Tuesday, September 6th, in Worcester and Wednesday, September 14th, in Springfield, both meetings begin at 6:30PM.

MA Low Number Plate Lottery Now Online!

Registrar of Motor Vehicles Erin Deveney announced Friday that applications for the 2016 Low Number Plate Lottery are now being accepted. In addition, for the first time ever, customers will be able to enter the lottery online by visiting: https://secure.rmv.state.ma.us/myPlateLotto/. Mail-in applications are also available for download at www.MassRMV.com or at registry offices across the Commonwealth. Applications must be received online, or be postmarked, by August 26, 2016 in order for an applicant to be eligible.

Talk with MassDOT about MassPike Tolls

Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 25 of the Acts of 2009, provides in section 173 that the western section of the Massachusetts Turnpike shall be operated and maintained free of tolls when all notes and bonds issued by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) have been paid, which is anticipated to occur in January of 2017, and the turnpike is deemed to be in good condition and repair to the satisfaction of said department.  In preparation for this, the MassDOT Highway Division will host 4 public meetings to present and discuss its Triennial Review (State of Good Repair) report for the turnpike and the report's impact on the status of tolls after January 2017.
