Writing Workshop for Those Touched by Cancer

Baystate Franklin Medical Center’s Oncology Department is once again offering a free writing workshop, Spirit of the Written Word, for Western Massachusetts residents touched by cancer.  This 10-week class will take place on Thursdays from March 17th through May 26th (no class April 21st), from 6PM to 8PM, at Artspace in Greenfield. Participants will have a chance to promote their own healing and experience the therapeutic benefits of group writing, however, no writing experience is required and all sharing is voluntary and confidential.   In addition, refreshments will be provided.

Take Control of Your Health with BFMC Classes

Tomorrow night, Baystate Franklin Medical Center and guest speaker Seth Kupferschmid, MD will host an interactive discussion about how to seize control of your health care destiny.  Then, beginning on March 2nd, the hospital will once again offer its popular Gentle Yoga for Cancer Survivors course.

Photography Exhibit Brings Warmth to Winter

On Thursday, February 25th, at 5:30PM, in the hall outside Oncology, on the main floor of the hospital, BFMC will host a reception/open house for photographers contributing to the new exhibit, Summertide Revery.  The exhibition features photographs depicting treasured summer indulgences, as a distraction from the winter and a reminder of the joys in the coming season, that were taken by 20 members of the Base Camp Photo Adventures in the Pioneer Valley and Beyond MeetUp group.  This event is free and open to the public, with light refreshments available and many of the photographers on hand.  The exhibit will be on display through April.

BFMC Chocolate Fantasy 2016

It’s red and white, with love all over! Delectable chocolate treats, love songs, beautiful raffle baskets, and Valentine-related crafts will all be found at Chocolate Fantasy 2016. BFMC volunteers and members of the Baystate Franklin Auxiliary (BFA) will hold their annual Chocolate Fantasy fundraiser on Friday, February 12th, from 9:30AM to 3:30PM, in the hospital’s main conference rooms.  This year's proceeds will support the hospital’s Cardiopulmonary Department and Mental Health Unit.

BFMC Again Offers Yoga for Cancer Survivors

Baystate Franklin Medical Center’s Oncology Department will present a free, 8 week, yoga class, Gentle Yoga for Cancer Survivors, at the YMCA of Greenfield, on Wednesdays, from January 6th through February 24th, 2016, from 12PM to 1:30PM.  The course facilitator is Pam Roberts, a 20-year breast cancer survivor and certified Kripalu Yoga teacher.  Ms. Roberts is also a certified Yoga of the Heart for Cardiac and Cancer Patients instructor.
