2019 Dog Licenses Now Available

The Greenfield City Clerk’s Office reminds residents that all dogs are required to be licensed by April 1st.  Fees are $10 for spayed & neutered dogs and $15 for males & females.  If a dog has not previously been registered, the dog's owners must present a current rabies certificate and a neutered/spayed certificate from their veterinarian.

On August 20th, your Franklin County Dog Shelter will hold a fundraiser at the Millers Falls Rod and Gun Club. The event starts at 3PM and features dance band Sheepdip, dinner, a live auction, and of course dogs!  This is the shelter's biggest benefit of the year and is crucial to supporting the work of caring not only for dogs in Franklin County but their guardians as well.

Dakin Issues Storm Plan & Advice

Due to the large storm predicted January 26-27, Dakin Humane Society recommends that everyone with pets have an emergency plan, especially in case power is lost in the home.  In addition, though both locations will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dakin Humane Society can provide temporary care for animals affected by extended power outages at their 171 Union Street facility in Springfield after 3PM on Wednesday.

Big News From Dakin

The Pioneer Valley's Dakin Humane Society is excited to announce that an anonymous donor has pledged to match dollar-for-dollar every monetary donation to the organization between now and November 15th, up to a total of $100,000!  In addition, Dakin unveiled a completely revamped website last week and their $5 Feline Event over the weekend enabled them to place 137 animals in new homes.
