Breathing Space

Things have calmed down a little so we thought we’d provide an update about how things went last Friday. All of the events we filmed are now online: How Healthy is Franklin County?, Children’s Memorial Flag Raising, Franklin County Justice Center Opening Ceremony, and Maricella Obando Moya’s Artistic Journey.

An Eventful Week

In addition to their regular duties these last few days, our staff members dealt with a power failure in the WMCB live radio studio, helped the Greenfield Kiwanis Club prepare for its telethon in May, and covered a variety of special events in town.

Big Productions & Special Guests

We started the week excited about the fact that we had so many productions booked in our facility and that enthusiasm was not misplaced.  The Dukes of Sports kicked things off on Monday morning with a full crew, which was a nice change as weather, holidays, vacations, and illness had prevented Russ, Mike, Sam, and John from being in the studio together for several weeks.  Then, Bobby C. brought The Recorder Columnist Jay Butynski in to guest co-host Franklin County Varsity Sports Report.

This week, we're pleased to be able to tell you about two projects we're working on in partnership with several area organizations.  The first, in anticipation of St. Patrick's Day, is the brainchild of independent producer David Sherman.  We'll be helping him, and the great staff at Falls Cable, film one of the traditional Irish music sessions that are currently taking place at McCusker's Market in Shelburne Falls every other Sunday morning.

Bobby C. is on TV!

Back in February, we told you that popular local DJ Bobby C.

One Door Closes, Another Opens

In May, we'll be saying goodbye to Storytime with Tom & Kat.  After four and a half years of producing this children's show, Tom LaChance would like to turn his editing hands to something else.  In addition to the puppets he created for Storytime, Tom has a passion for public domain movies.  His new show, 29 Minute Movies, which will premiere next month, will take full length features and cut them down to their bare essentials, while keeping their storylines intact.  In our modern, fast-paced world, Tom hopes that th

Help us Welcome Bobby C!

That’s right! Popular local DJ Bobby C will be joining the lineup on WMCB-lp 107.9FM beginning Monday, February 22nd, at 7PM. Bobby approached us a while ago, about getting a local sports show on the radio, because he really wants to highlight all the great things that area high school atheletes are doing and because he saw a niche that needed to be filled.

Holiday Happenings

As Chanukah winds down and folks prepare for the solstice, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year's Eve, we thought we'd highlight 3 large community events that you can watch on our channel.

Democracy Now! When?

Fans of the FreeSpeech TV program Democracy Now! enjoy watching it live on Cable Channel 15 weekdays at 8AM and when it repeats at 10PM.  Unfortunately, we’ve been having trouble with the morning run recently.  It started late last week, while our executive director was on vacation, when we began receiving phone calls from concerned viewers saying that, instead of watching host Amy Goodman interview a diverse selection of guests, they were seeing country music videos.

Lots of New Content

Just a quick post to let you all know that we're excited to be presenting a lot of new content this month and next on Cable Channel 15, as well as here on our website.  In addition to new episodes of your favorite shows, a brand new series premiered early this month (The Wider World of Diversity), we're filming all of the Ways & Means Budget Meetings, and we recorded last Friday's Creative Economy Summit 2015 sessions.  In addition, we have a historic surprise in store for people who check our homepage on Memorial Day.
