Riverside BBQ Fest Bigger & Better Than Ever!

The Riverside Blues, Brews, & BBQ Festival returns to Greenfield for a 7th year on Saturday, October 7th, at its new location, the Franklin County Fairgrounds.  Hosted by the Greenfield Recreation Department and Lefty’s Brewing Company, and sponsored by local businesses, the event features a Northeast Barbecue Society Grilling Contest, Kansas City Barbeque Society BBQ Contest, Lefty’s Brewing Company Brew Tent, live blues music, People’s Choice BBQ Samplin’ Pit, vendors, contests, and more.

Winter Carnival is Almost Here!

Winter Carnival returns for its 95th year this Friday, February 3rd, through Sunday, February 5th. Since its very beginnings, this event has brought the community together in celebration, in a time of year that can be long, cold, and dreary. This year is no exception, with an exciting, jam packed, Arctic Blast themed weekend of activities planned.

Mmmm Eat Your Fill This Weekend!

The Riverside Blues, Brews, & BBQ Festival, held under the iconic Poet’s Seat Tower, returns for its 6th year on Saturday & Sunday, October 8th & 9th.  “We love to showcase one of the gems of Greenfield- Beacon Park.  It is a wonderful place, with the surrounding mountains and Poet Seat Tower standing above” says Greenfield Recreation Director, and event organizer, Christy Moore.  “It is especially beautiful at this time of year with all of the changing foliage.”

Volunteers Needed & Roads Closed for Sunday Triathlon

The Greenfield Recreation Department would like people to know that it still needs volunteers for the 33rd Annual Greenfield Lightlife Triathlon being hosted this Sunday, August 7th, from 8AM to Noon, at the Green River Swimming Area, and that some roads will be closed to accomodate the race.  Over 350 tri-athletes from all over New England and beyond are expected to compete and raise money for the many programs and special events that the recreation department puts on each year.

Winter Carnival Traffic Advisory

The Greenfield Recreation Department would like to remind people that tonight's Winter Carnival Parade of Lights will begin precisely at 6PM, at Newton School, and arrive at Beacon Field around 6:30PM, after winding its way through downtown.  Motorists are asked, if possible, to avoid Main and Federal Streets during the parade.  In addition, spectators should be aware that some streets and parking areas around Beacon Field will be closed.
