Voice Your Community Health Needs

Baystate Franklin Medical Center’s Community Benefits Advisory Council (CBAC) will host a “Community Listening Session”, focusing on community health needs, on Tuesday, June 7th, from 3PM to 5PM, in the John Olver Transit Center (12 Olive Street), 1st floor meeting room.  The event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.

New Support Group & Photo Exhibit at BFMC

Baystate Franklin Medical Center will begin offering a free, monthly, Stroke Support Group on Tuesday, May 17th, from 10AM to 11AM, in Conference Room C, facilitated by BFMC Emergency Department Nurse Educator & Stroke Coordinator Diane Stephan, RN, BSN.  In addition, there will be an opening reception for this summer's photo exhibit at the hospital, Sharing Our Bliss, on Thursday, May 19th.

Learn About Volunteering with BFMC

In honor of National Volunteer Week, April 10th through 16th, BFMC Volunteer Services Manager Becky George will be holding two group interview and information sessions for potential volunteers.  This is an opportunity for you, your family, and friends to learn more about what kinds of volunteer opportunities are available at the hospital.  The first will held on Friday, April 15th, from 10AM to 11AM, and the second will take place on Tuesday, April 19th, from 2:30PM to 3:30PM.

BFMC Offers New Nutrition Class

Baystate Health Dietitian Alicia Walter, MS, RDN/LDN, will be running a series of free, monthly, nutrition classes, beginning April 13th.  Though geared toward Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation patients, these sessions will be open to the public.  Each class will be held on a Wednesday, in Baystate Franklin Medical Center’s Conference Room C, with 2 choices for timeslot.  Participants can either attend from 10:15AM to 11:15AM or from 11:30AM to 12:30PM.

Writing Workshop for Those Touched by Cancer

Baystate Franklin Medical Center’s Oncology Department is once again offering a free writing workshop, Spirit of the Written Word, for Western Massachusetts residents touched by cancer.  This 10-week class will take place on Thursdays from March 17th through May 26th (no class April 21st), from 6PM to 8PM, at Artspace in Greenfield. Participants will have a chance to promote their own healing and experience the therapeutic benefits of group writing, however, no writing experience is required and all sharing is voluntary and confidential.   In addition, refreshments will be provided.

1 Billion Rising at Salasin Center on Friday

1 in 3 women across our planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime.  That’s 1 BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.  Every February through March 8th, thousands of Risings take place across the world to show what 1 billion looks like and to shine a light on the rampant injustice that survivors of various forms of violence face.  On  Friday, March 4th, from 7PM to 10PM, The Salasin Center will host one of these events at the RPX (1 Osgood Street) here in Greenfield.

Take Control of Your Health with BFMC Classes

Tomorrow night, Baystate Franklin Medical Center and guest speaker Seth Kupferschmid, MD will host an interactive discussion about how to seize control of your health care destiny.  Then, beginning on March 2nd, the hospital will once again offer its popular Gentle Yoga for Cancer Survivors course.

Photography Exhibit Brings Warmth to Winter

On Thursday, February 25th, at 5:30PM, in the hall outside Oncology, on the main floor of the hospital, BFMC will host a reception/open house for photographers contributing to the new exhibit, Summertide Revery.  The exhibition features photographs depicting treasured summer indulgences, as a distraction from the winter and a reminder of the joys in the coming season, that were taken by 20 members of the Base Camp Photo Adventures in the Pioneer Valley and Beyond MeetUp group.  This event is free and open to the public, with light refreshments available and many of the photographers on hand.  The exhibit will be on display through April.

BFMC Chocolate Fantasy 2016

It’s red and white, with love all over! Delectable chocolate treats, love songs, beautiful raffle baskets, and Valentine-related crafts will all be found at Chocolate Fantasy 2016. BFMC volunteers and members of the Baystate Franklin Auxiliary (BFA) will hold their annual Chocolate Fantasy fundraiser on Friday, February 12th, from 9:30AM to 3:30PM, in the hospital’s main conference rooms.  This year's proceeds will support the hospital’s Cardiopulmonary Department and Mental Health Unit.

The Salasin Project invites you to take a tour of their comfortable facility, meet the staff & Salasin Council, and learn about various supports & programs they offer, on Friday, January 22nd, from 3PM to 7PM.  Special guest Robin Lane from Songbird Sings will be present to celebrate the release of the latest A Woman’s Voice CD that was created in collaboration with The Salasin Project.
