Election Update

November 3rd will be here before you know it! If you haven’t visited our election information page yet, you really should. It’s a great way to get informed before Greenfield’s town-wide vote, during which every elected office is up for grabs. If you’ve already checked out the resources we’ve provided, thanks and come back! Over the last few days, we’ve added a new write-in for Precinct 2, put links to all the candidate debates (including last night's exciting mayoral debate) and the Plastic Bans Forum in one place, and had more contenders come in to record video statements. Next week we plan to add information for people who need a ride to the polls and there are still candidates who are in the process of scheduling time to record their 3 minute pieces, which will be added as we get them. Regardless of who you support, please vote on November 3rd and remember to check our homepage for results, after 8:30PM, on election night.

In other news, we encourage you to come downtown again this weekend to check out another big arts extravaganza. Tonight and tomorrow night, Greenfield Annual Word Festival (GAWF) readings will take place in our lobby at 7PM. Voices From Inside/Out kicks things off, as previously incarcerated women read their powerful poems expressing pain, joy, and hope. Audience members will be inspired by the women's insight, courage, and perseverance in the face of adversity. On night 2, writers from the Naugatuck River Review will read from their work. We're excited to have them back in front of our cameras and hope that you will take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy some of this literary smorgasboard.
