Animals Affected by Snowstorm Need Your Help

The Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society's (DPVHS) two locations have been filled to capacity with dozens of family pets requiring temporary homes due to the widespread power outages resulting from last Saturday's storm.  In addition, the snowstorm caused Dakin to evacuate their Leverett Adoption Center animals to their Springfield facility.

Candy Lash, DPVHS Director of Community & Media Relations, shares that "Dakin is providing care for more than 300 animals in our Springfield location, with another 200 in foster care.  We need the community's help finding homes, particularly for Dakin cats, as we work to make sure that the animals displaced by the power outages are kept safe and warm."

To that end, there will be a special adoption event taking place this Saturday and Sunday, November 5th and 6th, from Noon to 4:30pm at both the Springfield and Leverett Adoption Centers.  Any cat or kitten with any amount of "snow" (white) in his or her fur may be adopted for just $5.
