Eat Dinner with Your Kids Monday Night

From a Greenfield Mayor's Office press release:

Mayor William F. Martin announced the Town of Greenfield would once again join forces with The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASAColumbiaTM) in celebrating Family Day – A Day to Eat Dinner with Your ChildrenTM this year on Monday, September 24.

Launched by CASAColumbia in 2001, Family Day is a national movement that encourages parents to take time to eat dinner with their children as often as possible. CASAColumbia’s continuing research finds that children who regularly eat dinner with their families are less likely to smoke, drink or use drugs. These children have also been shown to get better grades and have productive, close relationships with their parents.

“It just makes good sense to gather with your children and engage them in conversation at mealtime,” said Mayor Martin. “As a parent myself, I encourage other parents to make this an everyday occurrence whenever possible. Together we can help strengthen our families and help children and teens lead lives free of addiction.”
