You're Invited to the Grand Opening of Our New Space!

On Tuesday, December 3rd, at 5pm, the public is invited to the grand opening of our new facility on the first floor of 393 Main Street.  This new space will house GCTV’s community radio station, WMCB-lp 107.9FM, as well as an audio production suite, meeting space, and offices.  It will also act as the primary point for interaction with the public, including equipment check out and return, submitting public service announcements or programming, and field equipment training.  Our existing third floor space will continue to house the station’s live HD production studio, which plays host to many local productions as well as meetings of the Greenfield Town Council and Greenfield School Committee. The third floor will also have areas for group editing and training, along with private editing suites.

GCTV Board member Terry Ruggles led the effort to make contact with New England Newspapers Inc., the parent company of the former Town Crier, when it first became known that their space might be available, and handled the negotiations with local realtor Robert Cohn and the owners.  “I think that this gives us a lot more address identification and should increase our visibility in the community.  I am glad we got it done.”

Board Member Ralph E. Gordon, Sr. said that, “this will give us a window on Main St. where the public can make easy contact with our staff and with our productions. It is something we have talked about for some time, and when the opportunity came we proceeded to purchase the condominium there.”

“I’m really excited about this,” said GCTV Station Manager Scott MacPherson. “We have been looking to expand for a long time and now we have the space we need to best fit our operations, and make GCTV an even more user friendly experience for the community, as well as our producers and DJs.”

GCTV Board President Garry Longe noted the opening of this new space will be the culmination of many years of planning focused on providing GCTV with a stronger “Main Street” presence, greater staff and facility access, and expanded services for our local community.
