PVB Celebrates 35 Years of The Nutcracker

Adapted from a Pioneer Valley Ballet press release:

Pioneer Valley Ballet is a non-profit mission-based organization founded in 1972. Its mission is to provide pre-professional training and performance experience to dedicated young dancers, and to bring high quality dance performances to the community.  Programming includes year-round training opportunities for both casual and dedicated young dancers, two annual productions (including "The Nutcracker") with student, community, and professional dancers, and extensive dance outreach to the community.

"The Nutcracker", performed by Pioneer Valley Ballet for thirty-five years, is a classic story creatively brought to life with original choreography, scrumptious costumes, and opulent sets.  Clara chases her brother, the Sugarplum Fairy soars, and sweet candies prance their way through children’s dreams.  This 35th anniversary staging is a not-to-be-missed holiday tradition.

This year, "The Nutcracker" will take place on Friday, December 13th, at 4pm and 7:30pm, and on Saturday & Sunday, December 14th and 15th, at 1pm and 4:30pm, at the Academy of Music in Northampton.  Ticket prices range from $15 to $40 per ticket and additional fees may apply.

Following the 4:30pm performance of "The Nutcracker" on December 14th, stroll over to R. Michelson’s Galleries for a private champagne reception honoring the contribution of Pioneer Valley Ballet during 35 years of "The Nutcracker"!  Join Artistic Directors Maryanne Kodzis and Thomas Vacanti, and guest artists from Carolina Ballet, Jan Burkhard Catlin and Pablo Javier Perez, as we celebrate the past and look forward to many more exquisite productions of fine dancing.  Tickets for this special event are $25.

Another special event this season is Tea with the Sugar Plum Fairy.  On Sunday, December 8th, from 2pm to 4pm, at The Hotel Northampton, you and your child (or grand-child!) will delight in dainty treats, delicate sweets, magic in the air, and a visit from the Sugar Plum Fairy.  You won't want to miss this delightful new tradition. Save the date and start shining your tiara!  This event is a fundraiser for Pioneer Valley Ballet and tickets are $25 each.

Tickets for all PVB productions can be purchased directly at  Tickets for "The Nutcracker" can also be purchased from The Academy of Music Theatre's Box Office (274 Main Street, Northampton, or call 413-584-9032 x105) Tuesday through Friday, from 3pm to 6pm.
