Enjoy Fall Festival in Deerfield This Weekend

From a Travel and Leisure News press release:

The Deerfield Art & Craft Festival, held in the center of one of New England’s most beautiful and acclaimed villages, returns for its 38th season on Saturday and Sunday, September 21 and 22, 2013, to celebrate the change of season.

“Old Deerfield is a unique setting for a fair,” according to Tim Neumann, founder of the fair 38 years ago and the Executive Director of the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association, which benefits from the proceeds of the fair.  “The village is widely recognized for its great colonial heritage—a real national treasure and is especially beautiful this time of year.” “Our shows in Deerfield have always been a bright patchwork quilt of crafts, shaded by colorful, old maple trees, surrounded by fields of cornstalks and pumpkins,” notes Neumann.

Deerfield was one of the major centers of the Arts and Crafts Revival a hundred years ago. This year the fair will feature the newly installed arts and crafts exhibit, Skilled Hands and High Ideals, as part of the Museum tour. The Deerfield Fall Fair is known for its remarkable array of art and hand-made wares. The September show continues to advance in its ranking of “200 Best Shows” by Sunshine Artist Magazine." The Deerfield Fall Craft Festival is sponsored in part by New England Ford Dealers offering opportunities to win giveaways and prizes at the event.  Ryan and Casey Liquors of Greenfield is sponsoring the wine tasting of Sharp Hill Vineyard wines in Pomfret, CT.  Cheese samples are from several western Massachusetts farms.
