Dakin Dog Classes Start Soon

Adapted from a Dakin Humane Society press release:

The Pioneer Valley's Dakin Humane Society will begin three, six-week, dog training workshops this month at their Leverett location.  The two regular classes being offered are "Basic Family Dog", on September 20th at 9:30AM, and "Better Family Dog", an intermediate level course on September 27th at 10:30AM.  There will also be a special "Rally Freestyle – Fun and Games" intermediate level class on September 27th at 11:30AM.

In "Rally Freestyle", participants can learn how to train their dog to switch sides when asked, perform a spin while walking, and other new moves.  It is recommended that dogs already have completed Dakin’s "Basic Family Dog" classes prior to participating in this course.

Each of these classes costs $130 for the six sessions, but discounts are available for people who adopted their dog from either Dakin or the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Shelter.  To enroll, please visit  For additional information, call (413) 781-4000 x129.
