A Busy Month at BFMC

Adapted from a Baystate Franklin Medical Center (BFMC) press release:

There's a lot going on at our local hospital this month and you can be a part of it.  Learn about varicose veins, have your family portrait taken, enjoy a pre-Thanksgiving dinner, or check out a new art exhibit by attending one of BFMC's interesting events!

Spirit of Women Event "Legs: Looking Good & Feeling Better"
Monday, November 9th, from 6PM to 7:30PM
BFMC’s Main Conference Rooms

For this special event, Jeffrey Kaufman, MD, vascular surgeon at Baystate Medical Practices – Franklin Multi-Specialty will be talking about varicose veins.  Varicose veins are often associated with skin discoloration, inflammation, pigmentation, or hardening of the surrounding tissues. Usually occurring in the legs and feet, they may be a cosmetic concern because of their darkened appearance. Dr. Kaufman will discuss the types of veins in your body, and contributing factors, symptoms of, and treatments for varicose veins. Dr. Kaufman received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco and completed his internship and residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is board-certified in vascular surgery.

There is no charge for this program and refreshments will be served. To register for "Legs: Looking Good & Feeling Better", call 1-800-377-4325.

BFMC's Employee United Way Campaign Committee invites you to get your family portrait taken and help raise money to support the United Way of Franklin County.  Sittings will be scheduled in 15-minute intervals, with students from Hallmark Institute taking the portraits.  There is a $20 sitting fee, which must be paid before your reservation can be confirmed.  Additional 15-minute blocks of time can be purchased for $10 each and various photo packages will be available at very reasonable prices.  Order enlargements at your sitting and they will be ready for pick-up at BFMC within 2 weeks or go online and have a calendar, holiday greeting cards, and more designed with your print.  All sitting fees and proceeds from photo enlargements will be donated to the United Way of Franklin County.

“We are very excited that Hallmark Institute and its student photographers agreed to collaborate with us on this special fund-raiser again this year,” said Lynda Zukowski, Director, Clinical Services.  Zukowski is co-chairing this year’s BFMC campaign with Kerry Damon, Director of Human Resources.

Coordinating the event from the Hallmark side is Lisa Robinson, Director of Education. “We love teaming up with Baystate Franklin,” said Robinson. “This event does so much good. In addition to raising money to support a local, community-based charity, it provides neighbors and friends with cherished photographic memories. A lot of families come back year after year, and we love to see them!”

Families can include well-behaved pets in portraits if they choose, please state that you will be bringing your pet when you book your appointment. For more information, or to schedule a sitting, please contact Erin Henderson, BFMC Human Resources, (413) 773-2295.
