Kidleidoscope
Tuesday, October 6, from 10:30AM to 11:30AM, meet in the Great Hall

Come learn about neighbors who share our home in the Connecticut River watershed. This program includes a story, interactive games, and a craft to introduce you and your child to wildlife along the river.  Recommended for ages 3 to 6, with a parent or guardian.  The topic for this installment is Bears.

Canal Draw-down Walk
Tuesday, October 6, from 2PM to 3:30PM

Once a year, the Turners Falls canal is drained, so that it can be maintained for hydroelectric power generation, and this is a great chance to take a look a what’s really going on in the canal.  Will we find shopping carts? Tires? Carp? Secrets? Join a DCR Park Interpreter as we walk the canal-side rail trail (without getting in the way of maintenance) and see what we can see!

The Great Falls Coffeehouse:  Taking Back Eden---Contemporary, Original, & Acoustic Rock
Friday, October 9, from 7PM to 9PM

Each month Friends of the Great Falls Discovery Center host an evening coffeehouse with local musical talent. Refreshments are available and both the museum and the museum store are open during intermission.

Art Display
October 11 through the end of November, in the Great Hall
This exhibit features artists of Franklin County.

Artist Reception
Saturday, October 17, from Noon to 2PM, in the Great Hall

The Artists of Franklin County presents a group art exhibit, “The Nature of Life”, which showcases a mix of fine art and photography with creative reflections on nature and inspiring images of wildlife, flowers, grasslands, and waterways.  The show is curated by Ellen Blanchette and refreshments will be provided.
