Make Your Voice Heard About Tolls

Adapted from a MassDOT press release:

Next month, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will hold several public hearings regarding proposed gantry prices for its new All Electronic Tolling (AET) system that will go into use on the MassPike (Interstate 90), and in the Metropolitan Highway System tunnels, in October. Two of the hearings will take place in our area, on Tuesday, September 6th, in Worcester and Wednesday, September 14th, in Springfield, both meetings begin at 6:30PM.

The Worcester hearing will take place at Union Station (inside Union Hall), which is located at 2 Washington Street, and the Springfield hearing will be at Springfield City Hall (Room 220), which is located at 36 Court Street.  If you can't make it to any of the hearings, written comments will be accepted through 5PM on Thursday, September 29th.

To ensure drivers pay the lowest possible toll rate inside Massachusetts, they are encouraged to obtain an E-ZPass MA transponder prior to the launch of AET.  You can obtain an EZPass MA transponder in several ways:

*Sign up online and have one mailed to you free of charge.

*Visit any one of the five Customer Service Centers in Massachusetts.

*Pick one up at AAA locations across Massachusetts, Registry of Motor Vehicles branches, or (after Labor Day) at the Interstate 90 service plazas in Lee and Ludlow.

Drivers that are hearing impaired, and want an E-ZPass MA transponder, should call the TTD/TTY (Hearing Impaired Phone Line Only) at (508) 721-7974.
