Greening Greenfield Needs Your Support

Adapted from a Greening Greenfield press release:

It's that time of year again! Greening Greenfield's Annual Appeal campaign will come to its end on December 16th and the organization needs your help in order to continue its efforts to build a more sustainable community.  The group's positive, solution-oriented, presence in Franklin County enriches the lives of both residents and visitors to our Green Community.

Greening Greenfield and its members have supported many projects to advance and inspire a culture that models the principle of sustainable living in a diverse community:

*A state-of-the-art skate park for our youth.
*The Greenscape Challenge that provides improved quality of our streams and rivers.
*State-wide advocacy of laws such as the Green Bank that provides a way to use public money to leverage 5 to 10 times as much private investment as public investment.
*Continued support of town government in creating ordinances that influence lifestyle changes, such as the recent ban on all styrofoam products.
*Co-ordinating our 4th regional forum, "Innovations for Rural Living: Finding Solutions for Food and Transportation".

In celebrating their 10th anniversary last year, members reflected on Greening Greenfield's gains over the years but realized that there is still much work to be done.  To that end, in 2017, the group will be offering:

*Its 7th annual film series on creating solutions to environmental challenges.
*A water project working with 5th grade students, their teachers, and the Connecticut River Watershed Council (CRWC) that includes a deep understanding of our watershed.
*A partnership with HEET to create a map of local gas leaks so that the Greenfield Department of Public Works (DPW) can attend to this important oversight by the local gas company.

The leaders of Greening Greenfield, and other sustaining supporters, have already raised $4,000 to be used as a matching fund towards the goal of $10,000.  They hope you will support the group's plans and ongoing work by going to http://www.greeninggreenfield.org and following the prompts.  It’s easy!
