Next Wave Stage Youth Band Contest

Adapted from a Signature Sounds press release:

This year, Friday night festivities at the Green River Festival will include the best up-and-coming regional musical acts at the Next Wave Stage.  Sponsored by the Valley Advocate Sessions, this new feature will spotlight 5 of the most promising 18-and-under Western New England music groups.  In addition, Friday night festival admission will be FREE to anyone 18 or under.

The Next Wave Stage contest is open to musical acts from Western New England (the Pioneer Valley from Springfield to Brattleboro, plus adjacent vicinities) that have a majority of band members aged 18 & under.  At the festival, starting in the evening, bands will perform half-hour sets with 15-minute changeovers.  To expedite changeover time, bands must use the backline provided, which includes a drum kit and amplifiers.  A crew of audio professionals will be working to make sure everything sounds great.  To enter, please fill out this application.  The deadline for entries is June 1, 2017.

All members of the 5 acts that are chosen will receive weekend passes to the Green River Festival and each act will be featured, at a later date, in a Valley Advocate Sessions video.

For anyone 18 or under, no ticket is required for free Friday night festival admission, however, this applies to Friday night, July 14, 2017, ONLY.

The 2017 Green River Festival will celebrate 31 years of bringing awesome music to the Valley with a spectacular lineup of over 40 acts on 4 stages; the best in local food, beer, and wine; handmade crafts; a dance tent; a wide array of children's activities; hot air balloon rides; and a balloon glow.  Not only is this Western Massachusetts' largest outdoor event of the summer, it's the only music festival in the country that features hot air balloons. 2017 musical guests include Lake Street Dive, The Mavericks, Joe Russo's Almost Dead, Houndmouth, Funky Meters, The Infamous Stringdusters, Amadou & Mariam, Pokey LaFarge, San Fermin, Chicano Batman, Tank & The Bangas, and many more!  For more information, please go to
