New Leader for GCTV Has Been Hired!

Greenfield Community Television (GCTV) Board President Garry Longe is very excited to announce that, after a thorough search process, Oscar Lanza-Galindo has been selected as the new GCTV Executive Director.  Mr. Lanza-Galindo has a Master of Arts in Information Resources and Library Sciences and a Master of Arts in Intercultural Service, Leadership, & Management and will be starting in his new role here on October 16, 2017.

Board Member Terry Ruggles stated, “Oscar brings a fresh point of view and a different perspective to GCTV. With a strong background in academic information and communication, Oscar will add to the substantial progress made by GCTV under the leadership of Scott MacPherson. We anticipate even greater community inclusion in GCTV programming under his leadership.”

To introduce himself to the community, Oscar said, “I'm very proud of the work I have done as a librarian, director, and information specialist because of the impact it has on how we create, distribute, and consume information.  As the next executive director at GCTV, I look forward to putting those skills to work in such a rewarding environment.  With more than 10 years of program development, assessment, fundraising, and staff development, I believe that this is an ideal and mutual fit where I will learn from the staff and community as much as I hope to give in return.  Scott has done a wonderful job with GCTV, and I am very fortunate to have such a skilled, caring, and devoted staff and volunteers."

He continues, “GCTV's future is wide open and bright, full of opportunities for programming, instructional services, outreach, and calculated growth. Because we interact in a fast-paced information environment, it is even more crucial that we collaborate and partner up with other organizations to provide resources on how to research for and create sound resources and programming, and how to utilize as many of the tools around us to make that happen. GCTV has the solid footing that we need to build and collaborate further with all community organizations. News and original programing is important, and I believe we can make it an even bigger part of the digital landscape.”

Board member Otis Wheeler said about Oscar, “I think that his range of skills, experience, and leadership qualities will be an asset not only to GCTV but to Greenfield in general.”

“He is a caring professional that showed a big desire to be deeply involved in the community he and his family live in”, added Personnel Committee Chair Sue Dillon.
