We are teaching a five week free class where students will learn to make a documentary

Greenfield Community Television (GCTV) is excited to announce a free five-week Short Documentary Workshop, beginning January 6. Classes will meet on Tuesdays from 4–6 PM at GCTV, 393 Main Street in Greenfield.

Led by Adam Goldstein, an accomplished video producer, investigative journalist, video editor, and environmental activist, the workshop will teach participants how to plan, shoot, and edit a short, professional-quality documentary. Over five sessions, students will receive hands-on training in nonfiction video production and editing, learning about pre-production planning, shooting techniques, lighting, sound recording, and post-production editing.

Each participant will develop and pitch a short documentary idea. One of these pitches will be selected for production, with teams collaborating on all aspects of the filmmaking process. Upon completion, the finished short documentaries will air on Greenfield Community Television.

Goldstein has worked in over a dozen countries, producing nonfiction video stories on topics including petroleum exploitation on Indigenous territory, illegal logging, wildlife conservation, and government corruption. He has also directed and edited both short and feature-length fiction films, and now lives in Greenfield with his partner, Holly, and their two cats, Bernie and “The Slynx.”

Participation is free, but space is limited to six students.
To sign up, email info@gctv.org.

This program is supported by MassAccess Community Media.
